Chao Anouvong Park was built in 2010 to honor King Chao Anouvong; therefore, its name originated from the king.

The King Chao Anouvong (1767-1829) reigned in Laos in the year of 1805 until the fall of the country against the army of Siam in 1828. King Chao Anouvong fought for the independence of Laos from the Kingdom of Siam (now Thailand), and though he won several victories, were finally defeated by King Rama III of Siam. Until now, the King Chao Anouvong is considered a war hero for local residents.

The statue of Chao Anouvong King in Vientiane, Laos is a bronze statue of 6 meters high. He dressed in his military uniform and his royal hat, looking to the horizon in the direction of Thailand, with one hand on his sword and the other one in the position of greeting to Thailand people.
Because of honoring Chao Anouvong King, the Lao Government decided to build the statue of park to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the city of Vientiane in 2010.

However, notice that the access road to get to the statue of King Chao Anouvong closes at 7:00 PM and it is easy to walk from the night market or the Presidential Palace.

The Chao Anouvong Park is stayed in Vientiane (the capital of Laos). It does not have official address but the best way is to go to the Quai Fa Ngum road and this park is opposite the temple Wat Xieng Nyeun and Presidential Palace.
