Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park is a project that was initiated in January 2014 from 2 Dutch passionate people from Holland. The mission is to create a research centre studying and publishing about Laos butterflies, host plants and preservation because of environmental issues in Laos. Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park is located about 30 kilometers south of Luang Prabang’s center – Laos, just east of the Mekong River. The forests around Kuang Si Waterfall have always attracted a large number of butterflies. This is definitely worth a stop on your way to the waterfall. Indochina travel Laos

The park’s well-kept paths are ideal for wandering, and quaint wooden bridges over the water prove perfect for capturing idyllic shots of the falls. Travelers can pack a picnic or grab traditional fare from the nearby tuk tuk rink before venturing to the top of Kuang Si. The site also includes a bear rescue center and the Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park, both of which are also worthy of a visit.
They provide an informative guidebook to use as you walk around. From the entrance, follow the path through the well-designed, pretty gardens and pause to admire the streams. Eventually you will reach a netted garden full of interesting, beautiful butterflies. Various feeder stations have been set up where the fluttery insects flock and allow for a close-up. A fun au naturel “fish spa” has also been set up. Dip your piggies and let fishies nip at your skin. Travel to Laos

This is more than just a butterfly park. From the moment you walk in you realize that a lot love and denotation went into creating the grounds which boost amazing orchards and faunal in a relative small confined area. The butterfly enclosure is like walking into a magical psychedelic land where time stands still.

Sitting in the chair with fish nibbling at your feet in the park is a great experience away from the awful fish spas popular in shopping malls in Europe. You can just be there in the center of the garden and feast your eyes on the plants and butterflies, listen to the sound of nature. It was a peaceful moment that you will be cherished.
The park is small but cleverly laid out and we were able to see hundreds of butterflies up close. The owners are very knowledgeable and passionate about preserving the local environment. Well worth visiting and supporting. Don’t forget to bring a camera.
