Talat Sao is split into two distinct sections: The air-conditioned shopping mall (the only one in Laos) is the best place to find electronics, sports equipment and jewellery, while the cavernous original Morning Market is fairly overflowing with mass-produced silks, cheap T-shirts, trinkets and other souvenir type items. It is a popular tourist destination. Indochina tours

Talat Sao combines two very different shopping experiences in a central location where old and new Vientiane come together in an interesting mix. A wonderful place to do most of your holiday shopping in Laos, the Morning Market is housed over four floors in two Lao-style buildings, whose construction was largely paid for by the market vendors themselves.

The bright, orderly emporium holds everything from hand-woven fabrics and wooden Buddha figures to electric rice cookers and sneakers. Most of the shops cater to locals, but there’s still plenty to interest travelers: handicrafts, intricate gold-and-silver work, jewelry, T-shirts, and bags and suitcases to accommodate all your extra purchases. It is a great place for souvenirs. One coming here, you can buy Lao designed and handmade souvenirs such as textiles, Lao skirts (sinh), handicraft, jewelry and antiques. Laos travel packages

Two stories of restaurants, fruit stands, vegetable vendors and jewelers make up one of Vientiane’s most popular markets—Talat Sao. Traditional crafts, handspun silk and unique local instruments are just some of the finds travelers walk away from the morning market with.

There are occasional snack-stands in the peripheral areas and if you step into one of the motorbike parking lots, a couple of vendors are usually selling delicious Lao-style ice cream sundaes with coconut ice-cream, sticky rice, nuts and jelly sweets. If you are feeling a bit more peckish, the market has food stalls in the basement at the very centre of the new building, facing the appliance section.
