The amount of money you have to pay depends on whether you eat at a restaurant for tourist/backpacker, a small local restaurant/cafe, or right on the street. The street food served by the vendors is the cheapest.  It only costs $1.25 to have a bowl of noodles or rice and vegetables. You will have to pay from $2-3 for you main meals at local restaurants while more tourist-targeted ones average $3-4 and even more.

Discovering the beauty of Laos, getting around town is can-not-miss activity. Paying about $1.25 (10,000 kip) per kilometer, you will excitedly travel around the town with tuk tuks. Bicycle rentals are also popular with the cost about $1.25-$2.00 per day. Renting a scooter differs dramatically from one town to another, with some places costing $7-$8 per day, while popular places, such as Luang Prabang you have to pay $15 or even more.

If you are renting more than one bike or wanting it for multiple days, bargaining is a key to save money. Do not forget that bus and boat transport in Laos can really tear up your budget.
